As with all natural products, extra care will help maintain its good quality and looks. Depending on the amount of use, the following points should be carried out:
- Always protect your garment with a Leather or Suede Guard/Protector. This will help prevent the impregnation of water/dirt/grime onto the skin.
- In The Wet - We do not recommend
wearing the leather garment in extreme
wet weather. If wet, always wipe
dry, then reshape gently.
- Suedes and Nubbucks - always dry with a clean soft sponge and when dry, brush with a soft Suede Brush.
- Genuine Oiled/ Waxed Leathers may develop a white surface haze known as "blooming". This natural residue is nothing more than wax oil rinsing to the surface and can easily be whipped off with a damp cloth.
- Always hanger your garment even when damp on a suitable hanger.
- Your leather garment will stretch
slightly, therefore avoid stretching
your garment excessively. i.e. Sitting
in your garment.
- Avoid excess stress on seams and stitching.
- Take care of your buttons. Charm instructs all its manufacturers and suppliers to use a loose tension on the thread, when sewing buttons onto its garment. This precaution is to avoid costly repairs by customer to their garment when buttons were caught damaging/ tearing their garments. Please pay particular attention when you fasten your buttons and tighten as necessary but not too tight. We will not accept responsibility for lost/-loosened buttons.
We do not recommend dry cleaning; the process of dry cleaning is made for unnatural products, and happens to ruin the appearance of leather. The oils within the skin are lost when dry-cleaned especially from the "Raw" under side of the skin.
